Healing Hearts: Counseling for Children and Youth in Tacoma and Pierce County

Child & Family Guidance Center's Healing Hearts program is specifically focused on counseling children and youth, particularly the youngest victims of physical and sexual abuse in our community. Child & Family Guidance Center is one of the only agencies in Pierce County that works with children who have been sexually abused as young as 4 years old.

Considering the reality that coping with sexual abuse is extremely complex and difficult, CFGC has put together a comprehensive counseling therapy program that addresses all components of the healing process, including individual counseling and time in groups with other young people with similar experiences.

One component of this program is the Esteem Team. The Esteem Team is a year round counseling group that is comprised of both sexually abused children and their non-offending parents. It is both an educational, curriculum-driven session, and a support group.

Teen Esteem is another component of the Healing Hearts program. It is a year-round group, facilitated by a professional counselor, where teens can meet and get support for sexual abuse. Many of these teens also schedule individual sessions as well.
